Best Credit Cards for Travel Miles

Though travelling is just in our dreams for the moment, we can start considering what credit cards we can sign up for in preparation for when borders open up again. With all the credit cards available out there, we have rounded up some of our favorites to help kick start your search for a suitable miles card. Do take note to read all the eligibility requirements and applicable Terms & Conditions for the points listed below before applying for your choice card.

  1. Citi PremierMiles Card

One of the best credit cards for travel miles whenever we think of a miles credit card would be Citi PremierMiles card – a good starting point and entry-level card for newbies. A huge perk of the Citi PremierMiles card is that the miles do not expire, unlike some other miles cards. This will give you sufficient time to accumulate points before having to transfer to a preferred airline account to use the miles.

Citi is currently giving 37,300 Welcome Miles as a bonus to new customers who sign up. Moreover, from now till 31 October, you can get Apple AirPods Pro OR Nintendo Switch Lite worth up to S$379 when you apply and spend on your card.

When you spend on the card locally, S$1 = up to 1.2 miles, whereas all foreign currency spend including Retail and Online will give you 2 miles for S$1 spend. Another perk: for selected online hotel and flight bookings, you can get up to 10 miles for S$1 spend.

2. Standard Chartered Visa Infinite X Card

The ongoing promotion till 31 December 2020 for the Standard Chartered Visa Infinite X Card is pretty attractive – up to 85,000 Air Miles or up to S$800 Cash Rewards for new StanChart customers that apply and spend a minimum of S$4,000 on eligible transactions in each Spend Period.

Card holders will also get to enjoy 2 complimentary visits to Priority Pass lounges around the world each year, as well as flexible redemption regarding your Choice of air miles, cash rewards and travel credits.

You can earn up to 5 Rewards Points for every eligible S$1 spend and these Rewards Points will never expire. The SC EasyRewards programme allows X Cardholders to use their 360° Rewards Points to offset Travel Purchase Qualifying Transactions or to use their Rewards Points via Transfer Rewards to redeem for Hotel Partner Points or Airline Partner Miles. This makes it one of the best credit card for travel miles.

3. UOB Lady’s Card

One of my personal favourites, this credit card for travel miles allows you to pick your own preferred categories that will let you earn 10X UNI$ (or 20 miles) per S$5 spent within these categories with no minimum spend required. This strategy benefits those that make bigger purchases within specific categories, helping you to maximise your miles earned. Categories include: Beauty & Wellness; Fashion; Dining; Travel; Family; Transport; and Entertainment. This unique structure is definitely worth checking out at: https://www.uob.com.sg/personal/cards/credit/ladys/

Other purchases will earn you 1X UNI (or 2 miles) and additionally, you can take advantage of its Interest Free Payment Plan over 6 or 12 months and e-Commerce Protection on online purchases. It also offers a UOB Lady’s Savings Account the supplements existing critical illness coverage for 6 female cancers without you having to pay any additional premium costs.

4. American Express Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Credit Card

Another crowd favourite credit card for travel miles would be the American Express Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Credit Card that gives you extra perks associated with, as expected, Singapore airlines. You can receive up to 13,300 KrisFlyer miles with a minimum spend of S$3,000 in your first 3 months, and an additional Acer Monitor KA242Y (u.p. S$349*) if you are new to American Express. Another promo offered is S$150 Cashback for use on your next purchase on singaporeair.com when you spend S$12,000 on eligible purchases from 1 July 2020 – 30 June 2021.

For this card, Local Spend of S$1, you will get 1.1 Miles; Overseas Spend of S$1 = 2 Miles. A unique feature is that S$1 spent on Grab rides will give you 3.1 Miles! This will be great for those who are used to Grabbing all around Singapore, especially since we are all stuck with local, domestic travel for the next few months or so.
